A couple of days ago, I bought a book from the local Goodwill called "Cartooning with The Simpsons", and it's been proving rather inspirational as far as improving my drawing technique is concerned. Now, rather than drawing everything in ink, scanning it and then editing out all the glitches and bleeding into the paper fibres, I'm drawing in pencil, scanning it and then tracing over the scanned pencil - then with a little trickery, I'm left with just the traced picture... It's proving to have a much cleaner result than the older method - and once I get my head around how to use layers in my favourite editing programs, it's going to be even easier to be left with the tracing! Never let it be said I'm one to stand in the way of progress, even my own :) |
